THE LAST BOAT FROM DANZIG
by
J.Alexander
This powerful and moving story takes us to Germany in the
early 1930’s.
Nina and her two sisters grow up in a traditional, upper-middle-class,
professional, Christian, German family, with Jewish friends and strong ties
to England. But when the Nazis take power life-changing decisions have to
be made.
Nina and friends develop an escape line for Jews, risking their lives in
one daring event after another. Claudia is also involved, but her other sister
Anna marries a Nazi officer…
When World War Two breaks out one by one members of the family
are arrested or disappear. Towards the end of the war, Nina and Claudia
are trapped in East Prussia as the Russian army closes their escape routes.
Ships have been leaving the Bay of Danzig, but can Nina and her
refugees survive the gruelling weather and cross the frozen waters in time
to board The Last Boat from Danzig…?
Based on first hand, real life events revealed to the author, this book gives
a
fresh insight into the lives of the German people, themselves caught up in
the Nazi oppression.
